Eligibility Requirements. Member of WCU's Pride of the Mountains Marching Band. A graduate of a high school located in Avery, Buncombe, Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Swain, Transylvania, or Yancey County. Preference is given to graduates of Smoky Mountain High School.

Participation is open to all students and approximately 60% of marching band members are non-music majors.

Festival Format. Prelims/Finals. Bands will perform for evaluation, scoring and ranking using current adjudication sheets. BOA-style adjudication with the addition of Color Guard and Percussion captions. MSHSAA classification criteria used to divide the bands into equal classes.
